Well,
I'm looking into getting a new cell phone. I currently own a Nokia 6265i, I have had alot of issues with it (Freezing,Locking up, etc) and I want a cell phone that is reliable and has all the features. My service provider is Telus Mobility. The only way I can go is with their (Free cellphone with a 3 year plan) deal. I am highly interested in a smart phone. The two I have thought about are the BlackBerry 8703e and the HTC S720. I'm not sure if either of these phones are really good for what I need though. What I want out of a phone is basically: Mobile MSN Messaging, Ability to install custom themes & software, GPS, Emails, Possibly a camera. Any suggestions are appreciated

Well, if you want a camera then that particular Blackberry is out, however rumour has it that the Curve is coming out soon for Telus, whats more, it is most likely to be a version that has GPS builtin, which sounds like it would be what you are looking for. Both phones offer access to MSN, although the S720 is a bit more advanced because WM6 has that feature built right in (as opposed to using a 3rd party app on the BB), both phones do custom themes and software, however the HTC has a lot more apps out there for it since it is WM. As usual, BB's are the best for email, but the HTC is capable if you set it up right too (there are lots of free push services that provide instant delivery, it just affects battery life a lot).
Btw, if you do texting BB's offer threaded messaging which IMO is a great addition. Plus, make sure that you go into the store to try working models and to test out the keyboards.
Hope that helps.

EChid,
Well, I was hoping to get a new cell phone sometime this week, As my old one is starting to act up once again. I was also hoping to get it for free with a 3 year plan. So what cellphone do you recommend? I'm also open to ones I haven't listed as long as they are free with a 3 year plan. I thank you for your reply

Well, if you want it shortly then the Curve is out, which is fine anyway since it won't be free on a 3year. Looks like you truly are limited to the two devices you originally mentioned, in which case I would go for the S720, since the 8700 is old technology on this point and has no media player, no expandability, no camera etc. The HTC is far better than the 8700. I assume you are also getting an unlimited data plan with this?
EDIT: Also take note that the S640 offers wifi (although, IMO, not as nice a look or keyboard) and only costs $50, which you might be able to talk down since you have some rep with Telus already.

Well,
I really want a decent smart phone that looks nice, does basically everything a pc can do. I'm not sure if either one can do this though.

Well, the first step is to have a look at reviews. The S710 is definitely a decent smartphone, but you can't expect miracles from a smartphone vs. a pocket pc (with touchscreen), especially for the price. The 720 looks nice (IMO) and can browse the web at fairly good speeds and AIM, take photos etc. etc. HTC has a good record for having reliable phones that are well built and deliver good reception. Read up on some reviews, they will help you.
