Hi all. Long time lurker, first time poster. Motivated to register and post as my trusty razr v3 is finally dying, and I'm going completely mad trying to choose a new phone.

In essence, my problem is this. I travel a lot for work, and to some fairly remote places. So, I need a phone with quad band GSM and HSDPA 2100 (I'll be using it as a bluetooth modem and I'm a heavy data type, but I'll only be doing this in Europe). Both need to be as reliable as possible, ie good at picking up and holding weak signals. But no review or comparison sems to say which phone is the best at this.

Price is not an issue. Size is not much of an issue - smaller would be nicer but I'll happily lug around a brick if need be. Other features are not an issue. I can live with or without wifi or gps or a keyboard or whatever.

I just want *the* best possible GSM and HSDPA reception. Which phones have this?

Many thanks for any advice.

Most S60 devices do not get discussed in regards to the quality of reception because it's a standard with those devices now. I would say any Nokia S60 with features that suit your needs would be excellent.

If S60 is not your thing, you could try a blackberry if you're a heavy data user?

Cool, thanks for the help. I ended up getting a Nokia N82 - I realised I need it by friday so I ended up ordering in a bit of a hurry

will post back with impressions in the near future...

You ordered the exact phone I was going to recommend, but I hesitated because you said you didn't care about all the extra features. Great choice. You won't be disappointed.
