Can't apply files as ringer

I'm having problems setting sound files that were received through bluetooth or from the memory card as ringtones...anyone have any advice? I'm an alltel agent and i have a few customers having the same problem...i had a z6m purchased in december that worked fine but had to do an xbm for a new one and now it won't do it. I've heard that all the new motorolas will accept bluetooth but not be able to apply them as ringers. Anyone have any suggestions or tips on modding the file to read by the software or possiblly a way to downgrade the firmware?
