What is the recommended Rate, file size and format for ringtones for the VX990 phone?
I did some at 4800, as mp3s with about 30 secs and they were about 500kb. Is that to big? Should I knock them done to 1600 and mono?

Thx

It depends. If you're saving the files to a microsd card (not sure with ringtones?) you can make them whatever quality you want. However, remember that your phone will generally only ring for 20-30 seconds. Also, if the files are on the phone, you might want to consider keeping them around 300 kb, as a general guideline. Experiment and find a balance that works for you.

I usually save everything on my MicroSD card because I have a 2GB card and haven't even hit the 250MB mark yet.

As for the size of file you are wanting for a ringtone, I usually do all my ringtones at 128 or 160kbps MP3s.. I am not really worried about file sizes. The only time I worry about the size of the file is when I am making tones for friends that I need to send over the VZW network since they limit the send size to 500kb.

Draxxis,

Are you sending out the mp3 ringtones thru the yournumber@vzwpix.com method? I'm glad this method works as a backup still. I had a Samsung SCHa930 and that was the first way I did ringtones until I found out about BitPim. Thanks, eh!

Peace
