Hi,

I've been searching and reading a bit about this unlocking stuff, and I have a stock K790a from Rogers. I would like to unlock it using the tutorial here with the simlockpatchgen + xs++ and the setools, but before i do that, I was wondering if anyone has flashed the 790a with the newest firmware, R8BF003. I have never done this before, and don't want to brick it, and was wondering if it should work. I used that russian website to grab the FS and GENERIC files, but it was offered in different 'regions', and i picked up the K800_R8BF003_FS_C_ASIA_RED52 one. Would this work, and will it work properly on my phone, and in english?

I'm new to this also I have a debranded k790a with central europe firmware that now says k790i. I downloaded the K8BF003 FS and MAIN files from some site also and would also like to unlock firmware update my phone. First I'd love to backup my GDFS though.

I only have the USB cable that came with my phone is that enough to do the SIM unlock or do I need the cruiser cable? It didn't mention anything in the tutorial on HOFO, but maybe that's cause everyone just assumes you need to use one of those.
