This article says this is LG"s attempt to preempt the iPhone release in Korea:

seems like a cool phone, but it isn't innovation, just a copycat - it will never have the sexiness of the iphone IMHO

I totally agree. And there have been so many so called "iPhone killers" but none of them have lived up to the iPhone. Unless these copycat phones can provide more innovation and far better features, people will still be purchasing iphones.

Any large screen device with a full HTML browser is always welcome in my book.
Copy or not, it's good to have options and it's good to see companies move in the direction of making more full featured phones.

Can't believe people continue to show their ignorance. Touchscreens and hires video have been around for years.

There's no real "killers", there's room for all types of phones.

As for Korea, digital TV is popular there and smartphones are not. Plus they mostly use CDMA, I believe.

So the iPhone really isn't a contender in Korea.

I think this may win in Korea. Since (last I checked) the real iPhone isn't for sale there. Thus a phone with a simliar feature set will 'kill' the iPhone in that market.

I am waiting for the Nuvifone(spelling).

i dont like people when they keep saying other brands are copying apple. you know it is pretty difficult to change a design when iphone is only has a screen and a button in the centre.
so alot of company would have similar designs. would you say apple copied HTC when HTC made the P3600?

I would look into Lg's past phones before you say they are the ones doing the "copying"

its really not that hard for a company to make a phone better than the iPhone. All they have to do is make a phone with a huge screen, responsive, 3g, flash player for the web browser, and the other basic features and its done.

that thing is ugly

its a nice phone but i also wouldnt call it an iphone killer. my idea of an iphone killer would probably be a nice symbian or android based touchscreen phone. these phones will more than likely have more software flexibility and wont have to deal with apples politics

Ha. I love threads like this. My wifes Audivox Cricket phone is a TRUE iPhone killer!

At least the girl in the photo is cute

the only "real" iphone killer will be its successor..... ie iphone 2. lol

How many "iPod killers" have been released? How many of them have actually succeeded in killing the iPod? (hint, none yet)

I think it'll be a long time before someone actually manages to bring down the iPhone or at least match it in terms of user experience and quality.

Speaking of iPhone killers. There is a sign on the Helio stand in the mall saying the Ocean is an iPhone killer.
