HELP! iphone 1.1.3 otb "no service" when trying to unlock

HELP!!!!
I bought an iPhone to unlock and when i first did it it worked except there was "no service" displayed. No amount of restarts/clearing settings would work. I have also tried upgrading the firmware to 1.1.4 or back to 1.1.3. Now i have gone through multiple things, from ZiPhone to iPlus. Restoring in restore mode or DFU mode. Erasing baseband (bad decision i think) and then restoring. downgrading the bootloader by itself to 3.9.
At this point im somewhat at a loss. EVERYTHING else works PERFECTLY... i just have "no service" displayed at the top. please help me, im freaking out about this
