Activation Problem

I activated my phone at 12 noon today and apprantely i'm suppose to leave it plugged in. I'm porting my number over so I'm sure that makes it take longer but I just want to know, is something wrong with my port or is this normal because apple claims "this is normal, it may take 24 hours" but its 9:30 now and I can call out and text out but not recieve. Anybody else expierence this?

it took me about 45 seconds to activate via iTunes. Granted I didn't port over my number yet... I'm sure its quite normal as AT&T must terminate your old service and gain access to your old number.
