Cingular 6340i prototype flashing

As the title says, I have a prototype Cingy 6340i laying around (and before anyone asks, I found this gem in a garage sale. When I saw it was a prototype, you can be damn sure I bought it and kept my mouth shut about the fact it's a prototype). My girl was part of those affected by Bell's upcoming shutdown of analog, and seeing as they have no plan of replacing her hardware, I told her to test a few and pick a phone from my collection. To my own surprise, she chose the 6340i. Makes sense, as the 6340i is the best RF performer I have in my collection.

However, this one happens to be a prototype. Don't get me wrong, the firmware works surprisingly good, considering this is a pre-release, but it's not without quirks - it randomly rejects the SIM, crashes when trying to check a call's time, stuff like that.

It's unlocked, and I don't want the phone to re-lock after being flashed, one of the reasons I hesitate. Besides, what would the phone be flashed with, Fido firmware?

i say just pick an old unlocked one up off the bay and save that gem for collection
