I am about to purchase a new camera phone and have focused in on these two. I am located in the Charlotte, NC area so signal should'nt be an issue with both phones having the 850 and 1900 bands. I've read there are some issues with the touch keys on the K850i and their are also issues with the K790a joystick. Is the camera on the K850i that much better than the K790a? I've had a w810i and currently have a w710i as well as the AT&T Tilt. Main things that I'm interested in are call quality, camera, and A2DP. I know the battery on the K790a is rated at twice that of the K850i and it can be bought for about $150 less. Is the joystick really that big of an issue? Have they resolved it? Any help/opinions on these are welcomed. Thanks in advance!!

Do you want 3G on AT&T? Then K850i. If that doesn't matter, K790a.

It honestly doesnt matter to me to be on 3G. I notice you have the k850i....any issues with it? Do you notice a difference in the camera vs the k790a? Thanks for your reply!

I never owned the K790a, but understand the camera was excellent. The K850i's camera is OK IMO. I seriously am shocked that a specifically marketed camera phone is simply not a superior one, especially one by Sony. I suspect no Carl Zeiss lens could have something to do with that. Although outdoor photos posted by others seem OK. I may need to tweak some settings. I have seen N95 pictures and the quality can replace your camera!! I don't know if I could really say the same for the K850i yet.

As for quirks, theme resets to built-in SE themes after unplugging from the computer. But only themes on the card. I did a test today and confirmed it. If the theme is an SE theme in PHONE memory, the phone does not reset the theme.

had both of them before. there is not much of the difference between the 2 cameras in my opinion. it would be better to get the k790a since it is cheaper with a good camera.

It is simple: The k790 works. The K850i works when it feels like working.

Seriously, the K850i is a steaming pile of poo. I never thought I would be dumb enough to pay hundreds for a pile of poo, but I was wrong.

We are talking class action bad.

ya the k790a is a good phone to miss. i'm thinking of getting one too. was not satisfied with the k850 at all when i had it.
