P800 was great and revolutionary for its time even after the many delays P800 did very well and it is what made UIQ a success, P900 it was a P800 with better design, better screen and UIQ 2.1, nothing special but acceptable, P910 was totally outdated when it came out offering nothing new from P900 instep of a very bad QWERTY keyboard, finally the P990 was the disaster of the whole platform taking to the hole everything was UIQ related after that... The major lacks the better competition and mostly the extremely buggy UIQ 3.0 made the P990 a disappointment.

UIQ is meant to be for high end devices at least this is what we learn with P800 but it looks like mother Sony Ericsson still don't get it... Even the latest Sony Ericsson G700 and G800 UIQ based smartphones doesn't even offer QuadBand support with EDGE. If you can't even offer that then...there is nothing to say.

UIQ is a great platform and we hear for many nice additions to its next version. We really hope Sony Ericsson have something nice to announce really soon along with many high end devices base on that.

i disagree... i think SE has once last push with UIQ.. the hardware isn't there cause the software isn't there to support it.. SE is a "smaller" company and has been devoting the last few years to the midrange market..

the g700 and g900 are nice devices.. they'll be competitive in pricing and appealing for people that want small touch/type devices.. the UIQ line up has always been nonexistent in the US market...

The UIQ platform needs to be on both high end phones and mid-range phones. They also need to market it to other manufacturers (lower royalties?) and make software development for it easier.

Nokia has been putting S60 not only on high end devices (like the N95), but also in cheaper, mid-range, models. SE has dropped the ball... I loved my P800, but SE needs to create better hardware, and put the UIQ on more hardware than it currently puts it on.

SE has launched W960, G700 and G900 in the last couple of months. If you sum the-former-mobile-division-of-Motorola Z10, 4 UIQ launches. Far from ideal, but it's a nice start.

And, anyway, only on UIQ 3.1 a non-touchscreen option has been added. Having a non-touchscreen version is vital to reach the midrange.

UIQ 3.3 was announced and released today.
Hopefully that will get more people on the bandwagon ;-)

I don't know if I could go from an N95 to a Z10....

but it may be so until an S60 device w/ NA1700 HSDPA comes out.....
