Okay i have a friend that already owned a blackberry curve and all she did was get a FREE phone with AT&T w/ a plan and add MediaNet Unlimited & Messaging Unlimited. and she put her sim card into her blackberry and everything worked fine. we had some problems recieving text messagings so i called AT&T CS for her and they reset her messaging package.[they didnt know she was using her blackberry]. and it worked fine again,today she wasnt receiving her messages,well she would resieve them but they would dissapper? so i called AT&T and told them she was using a Blackberry and i gave them the IMEi number and they told me that she cannot have the MEdiaNet Unlimited with her blackberry because its a PDA. i understand that. and the AT&T rep said that she could not fix her text messages because of this? is this correct she must add a blackberry data plan?

I dunno about the plans part, but the receiving the messages and then the messages disappearing sounds like a low memory issue rather than an AT&T issue. You may want check how much free memory the blackberry has.

Make sure she's not storing photos and ringtones in the device memory (use a media card!). The BB will start to delete content if it is running low on space.

That is the correct procedure for reps to go through.

If you don't need internet you can just add text plans to the bb.
