Desktop Manager keeps Shutting Down

Desktop Manager keeps Shutting Down within 2 seconds of opening it up, each time.
I cannot get it to stay open.........

Although I rarely report bugs to MS, I did this time and the response was as follows.......

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this to work, please?

I am using XP SP2
worked fine before
but recently reformatted after which it began
even though i dont yet have all the software instaleld that I did earlier
so i cant imagine it is software related as in being incompatible with one or another.......

Is it version 4.3? I find it very temperamental. Usually, I just disconnect my device, then ctrl-alt-del to open the task manager, click on processes, then find both BBDevMgr.exe andRIMDevicemanager.exe. Highlight each one (one at a time) and click end process. Then, restart desktop manager, then reconnect BB.

If that's too much of a pain, uninstall, and reinstall Version 4.2sp2. More stable.

I had the same problem with vista..

If you have different user profiles on windows, make sure when you're installing it you choose the option that allows it to be used by ALL users and not just your profile..

Might be a diff prob with xp but this fixed it on vista

I had the same problem, it is definately vista. I installed in on my older XP system and it workd brilliantly. Anyways there is hope if your are using vista, make sure you install SP1, after installing SP1 seems all the bugs have been fixed, so far no issues, everything works fine.

I had SP1 installed already when I got my Pearl. I have no problems with 4.3.

Mine did the same. I went to Blackberry's website and downloaded Desktop Manager 4.3 without the Media Manager and have had no issues since.

4.2 with SP2 is probably the most stable release of the Desktop Manager.
