Points for missing a meeting?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I posted awhile ago asking who had "mandatory" meetings.

The next question is:

If you miss a meeting, do you get points for not attending?

Please keep the thread on topic!

Yes the meetings are mandatory (unless on pto). Missing the meeting is the same as not showing up for work or showing up late.

your schedule is your schedule, it just so happens u have a meeting at the time your shift starts.... its just like any other day or time your supposed to be there.

I am not sure if we get points, you can get in trouble (ie verbal warning) but to be honest with you, I do not miss mandatory meetings, so I don't know what happens.

Yup we get points! I think its a bunch of BS.

I am guessing there is a reason they are called "mandatory" meetings.

It's not a problem with attending meetings, but people have kids that have to get to school and I have to jump through hoops to get to Friday morning meetings. Meetings can be important, but must they be done on Friday's?

No answer I can offer. I don't disagree with you.

Another reason to leave ATT... ATT store meeting every Saturday is ridiculous.

Once a month is cool...but every week is just dumb. Reps don't get paid nearly enough to go to meeting. Compensation plans are being lowered, why keep investing your time in meeting to raise sales when it'll barely raise your paycheck?

Every weekend is rediculous. I can settle for every other week, but our meetings are on Fridays. Totally unacceptable for those that have young kids they have to get off to school. I haven't missed a meeting, but it's taking it's toll on my finances as I have to pay extra to get the babysitter up and get her to take the kids to the bus stop at 645 so I can be at my store at 745. It takes me about an hour to get there.

Not only that, but after being there at 745-9 for the meeting, I go back at 1 to close. I'm not complaining about closing, because that's what I have to do because of my kids, but the managers around here have no value of family, which is what was preached when I was hired 3 years ago. Now you're just a number that has to hit a rediculously high quota every month even though your store is overstaffed to keep the wait time down.

Our 40-hour weeks include the hour required for Saturday morning meetings, plus any off-site training. So if we have to go to data literacy for 4 hours, that's a total of 5 hours not selling. Crazy stuff.

The important stuff gets covered during the week in email FW's we get from management. So by Saturday, it's really just a recap.

Posted by: colione

Yea your right about the recap thing.

Our hours are figured to include time for meetings, training (off site), and other times. But it sucks to come in for an hour, then go home for 5 hours and the travel time is an hour each way. (we dont get paid time back n forth for meetings)

Posted by: The Champ

The off site training is included in our store, but not Saturday meetings... I mean I guess that's cool for openers if its included in the 40 hours. I think this is what should be done.

Openers come in early and have the meeting...then move forward. Mid shift and closers come in a bit earlier to get their own meeting so they can stay at the store and not go home.

You have a manager and an assistant manager correct? So one can conduct the morning and the other can conduct the afternoon.

The meetings are BS to begin with.

That really only affects your paycheck. Look at having to come in on your day off as a little bonus for yourself, very little work for a little more pocket change. Plus, if you do come in on your day off it can be used as leverage for when you need to get a day off but can't for various reasons (just remind your manager of your dedication and use that day off meeting as an example).

If your store is not near your house, sometimes it's not even worth it.
