NSS Read Error

I have an AT&T Nokia 6126 with a CA-53 cable.
When I try to use NSS to see about doing a partial debrand to give apps access to the phone's file system I get a read error as soon as I scan for the phone. I've tried on two machines using both Windows Vista and Windows XP Pro.
I'm using Nokia PC Suite 6.85 and NSS 1.038.12
