I read if you do it 3 times the phone is permanently locked to AT&T. How can I tell if I permanently locked it? If I did how can I unlock it now?

I had no problems with the debranding but the unlocking has been an issue for me.

from the main screen, enter key sequence >*<<*<*
service info -> sim lock

Look at the little padlocks. Next to each padlock is a number: number of times you can try to enter a correct lock code. If it's 0, phone is permanently locked

don't think you can do CID53, for the patch unlock method it must be CID52
