Good-Bye Minuet...Hello Opera

Well, I tried the Minuet browser for the trial period to see if it was worth the $20.00 they want for it. Not so much. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad browser. It just doesn't stand out IMO. So back to Opera I go. ( At least until Mozilla comes out with something. Love my Firefox!) I did have it on a 7290, but I'm kind of anxious to see how it does with the Pearl.

Opera Mini is awesome on the Pearl--can't beat the price either.

Opera's great...I just hate it when it loses connection sometimes and I'm forced to pull the battery to get it to connect again. Can't remember if it does the same with the blackberry browser also...

Are you using OM 4? Also, which BB device do you have and is it on the latest O/S? I had that happen for a while but it went away after upgrading (the O/S, I think).

I have a BB 8130
Opera Mini 4.010031
And
OS: 4.3.0.65 (and whatever Platform 3.1.0.34 means).
Oh, and I'm on the Telus network though I doubt that has anything to do with it.

Hmm... You have a new Opera Mini. My 8130 has 4.3.0.97, I believe .65 is a pretty "old" release. I think the problem went away when I installed .81 from Alltel--I now have .97 from Verizon Wirleless. Release .97 is available from US Cellular and Verizon Wireless.

Does installing a new OS from a different carrier cause any problems?
Wouldn't also mind trying a version of the OS that also supports Japanese...not that I know which that one would be...

Posted by: scottb

You can install any carrier's version of the OS for your device. As long as it's and 8130 OS, you're OK. There are some very good threads on blackberryforums.com about doing upgrades and maximizing memory.

Cool. Yup, just noticed the OS threads. Will need to go through that soon.
Thanks for all the info, greatly appreciated.

Opera is the best browser ever! For desktop and for BlackBerry!

The only thing I don't like about opera is that you can't make it your default browser. I think that's the BB though. It would be pretty sick if you could make it default.
