Liberty or Ziphone?

I have a 1.0.2 otb iphone and i unlocked it with ziphone and now am on 1.1.4, i am about to get a new iphone which will have a 4.6bl so what i want to know is which unlocking program is better and would u guys suggest i should use. I know that ziphone downgrades the BL and liberty downgrades it to the 3.9 fakeBL.

iLiberty+ - original code. You have the choice to use 3.9FB or 4.6BL. There are also payloads. Oh and did I mention it's original code?

Currently I would say that iLiberty+ is king. Their are too many issues with ZiPhone at the moment. Plus, honestly the frequency of ZiPhones updates has always bothered me. Why come out with something and update it everyday? Sounds like a buggy solution to me .

Have to say iLiberty+ as well. I just did two iphones last night and with the firmware update and iLiberty+ both phones were unlocked and running on T-Mobile in less than 1/2 hour. It so easy it wasn't even funny! go with iLiberty+ and enjoy.

sorry 4 the noob question, but wut u mean original code? And also which do u think i should do, downgrad BL to 3.9 or 3.9 fake?

It's "POLITICS" between the dev teams. Not to worry, it's a long story that people really don't care about. It's war in the unlocking community

just check out theiphoneproject.org, download the program yourself. Won't hurt ya to test it or to even look at it.

My only issue with iPlus/iLiberty+ is that there is no feature for IMEI Changing... REASON: Is to trick Fido/Rogers and get the $7 Unlimited Data if it works, so once it is confirmed to work i'll have to restore back to 4.6 and change my IMEI with ziPhone (N)

iLiberty+ or X if mac, easy to use, i was nervous since it was my first time, but 2mins and it was done

I used ziphone on one of my phones and iPlus on the other with not one problem so far.

One thing that ZiPhone has that iLiberty doesn't, is the fact that you don't have to stop iTunes with ZiPhone (2.5c). I've read that ZiPhone has a lot of issues now though. That it is killing functions on the iPhone.
If you are going to run iLiberty, stop the iTunes process and iTunesHelper process, before you run iLiberty. The first time I ran iLiberty on a friends phone, the phone had gotten stuck on boot with a non-moving loading circle in front of the earth.

since i'm new to iphone i have some questions for you. if i use unlock (on iliberty) on a 1.1.4 otb iphone do i have to select downgrade bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9FB?
another question is what do you need payload for?
and do i have to install the bsd subsytem and open ssh programs in order for it to work?

there will always to issues with either one of them, especially for the technically handicap ones. use what you're comfortable with after you've done your research. read the stickies hf has above, which should be enough for you.

ok thanx 4 the info all

will pwnage automatically install installer.app?

Whichever you choose, it'll end up being the "bad" program. People praised ZiPhone like it was the Mother Mary, but it apparently sucks. I used it, and I will deal with whatever happens next.

iLiberty+ or whatever else comes next will likely suffer some sort of setback, and everyone will talk smack on it.

I think the major issue deals with the baseband, not being able to change it back...err, I don't know. My phone works lol.

However, I have noticed that occasionally I'll tap WiFi in the settings menu, and it'll select and open the General Settings at the bottom, which I definitely didn't touch. Glitch Glitch Glitch!! It could just be 1.1.4 at its finest, but we can just chalk it up to ZiPhone being teh suck.

Hey op, check out the iClarified tutorials; may help you make your final decision. I used Ziphone before knowing about Liberty. Given the choice I probably would have used Liberty for the ability to restore my 4.6 bootloader. Click-->iClarified

Whether ziphone caused many of the problems people claimed, namely no wifi, no BT, is up for intepretation.

I willing to bet a lot of people read it in various forums and automatically assumed ziphone did caused all these problems and as you know these days, if you read it on the internet, then it must be true.

I think the only true bit is it downgrades the BL which it has to do anyway. ziphone came out first with an elegant one click solution which did that. Subsequent solution created a fake BL which will allow you to go back to 4.6 from 3.9 if you were originally on 4.6.

Is it a bad thing? Depends. If you need warranty and if you think the genius bar will go through the trouble of finding out your iPhone build week and see it should have 4.6 and not 3.9. I think not. The folks at the genius bar will just make sure you are activated on ATT and within your warranty period.

Anyone else, we may or may not receive warranty depending on our story at the genius bar - Oh .. I bought this as a gift and have not activated it yet, OR I have my friend activated it on his ATT acct temporary to make sure everything works etc.

Bottom line, the hackintosh forum is portraying everything evil about ziphone and warning anyone and everyone ziphone could break your phone's wifi, bt etc. But alot of these could be attributed to dumba$$ who doesn't know what they were doing (sure it is just a 1 click button, but some folks might have tried many many other solutions before ziphone), or their hardware is broken. Apple official forums have folks with broken wifi as well. So, it is a known hardware problem and coz' ziphone happen to come out first with an easy to use unlocker, it probably suffered majority of the blame for broken wifi.

I used ziphone to unlock my phone and it went w/o a hitch. If I had read all the negatives, I would probably believe it too and would probably have gone with another solution and warn folks not to use ziphone. Spread it like gospel and soon people will believe it.

No one can be 100% sure ziphone broke those phones and the hackintosh folks is dead certain it is due to ziphone up to the point where they stickied several topics warning users not to use ziphone.

There's always two side to a story. dev team is pissed coz' they say zibri stole their code and released it and didn't give them credit. But as an outsider sitting on the sidelines, looking at how zibri carry himself and what the dev team does, I'm leaning towards zibri. Zibri may be guilt as sin, but he surely doesn't resort to the dev team antics.

Used iLiberty last night. Worked great.

Posted by: ramairetransam

i used ziphone 2.5 and it went great . I did this a while ago i jb it when 1.1.4 came out . Now my buddy wants to jb his iphone and i dont know what to use. Ive used ziphone and never had a wifi issue or no signal or no utube. I want to jb his phone for him but i dont know what to use now . Mine works fine but i like the idea that he can go back to 4.6 for warrantee issues it he uses iliberty+. It sucks that so many ways have come out since 2.5 came out . I dont know what to do .

Posted by: jlim

I suggest using iLiberty+ and you can report back your experiences comparing it to ziphone

Or use ziphone and further re-inforce whether ziphone breaks wifi or not

It looks like ziphone3.0 is doing something funky .. I would stick with 2.6 OR use iLiberty+ if I have to do something today.

pwnage tool is the best
the iliberty+

NEVER EVER ZiPhone...its stolen code. Nuff Said... + Too many wifi problems

Posted by: AznJohn22

too many wifi problems? are you saying this from your own experiences? I've no problem with the wifi.
