I am tryin to figure out a way to change the text message ringer on the AT&T LG SHINE (cu720).... I have bitpim and will use that for regular ringtones, but how can you change the text message ringtone. Also I am trying to make them loud and clear.... I have read about using audacity, but need some clarification. The ringer is way to quiet...

mainly im trying to:
get clear loud ringtones... as well as text message ringtones

any help would be appreciated... i have searched alot. but its hard to find stuff for the AT&T version (cu720)....

There is a simple, but somewhat complicated way of doing this (sounds a little weird, but stay with me). First you will need to get a data cable for the phone, preferable one with the proper drivers on a CD, if you cannot find one with drivers you will need to download them from the internet. The easiest ones to find are for the Verizon version of the phone, they are available all over the net. Second you will need to install BitPim, and manually select the Verizon version (VX8700 I think) of the phone from the options menu. There is a tutorial in this forum that will take you the rest of the way, just search for it. Basically it involved you going into the folder where the message tones are stored and replacing them with your own custom ones. This is accomplished by giving the new ones the same name as the old ones. Just search for that tutorial and it'll give you all the steps and the exact location to put the files. If for some reason you cannot find the link, PM me and I'll get it for you. Once you get all the software set up and ready to go it's pretty simple.
