Voicemail Icon

So I just bought a used Pantech Duo off ebay and recieved it today, but the voicemail icon is showing on the phone and I don't know how to clear it. I don't have anything new so I'm assuming it was for the person before me. Is there any way I can clear the icon so I can know when I really do have a new message. Plus, it's a little annoying to me.
