Physical keyboard an overrated experience?

I've heard many good things about the HTC Touch Cruise and from what I've seen it's a pretty good phone. The only thing that I'm not a fan of about that phone is the lack of a physical keyboard; not even a slide-down keyboard like the one on the Touch Dual. Is asking for a regular keyboard asking for too much?

Too much no but necessary no. I think it's nice feature but not having one only bothers me sometimes but not enough to make me wish I had a phone with one.

That's why there's the TyTN II.

True. I was just wondering why everyone was so jumpy and excited over the Touch Cruise.

Oh okay. I think a lot of them want a more compact form and flush screen. I'm still considering it myself. Without the physical keyboard, I've always found typical messaging okay, but a hassle when typing uncommon words or URLs.

in my case i prefer the TC because of the flush screen, physically smaller than Tytn II, (in my opinion) better GPS performance and looks! i'm using the Orbit 2 version of the TouchCruise; same internals but a different case.

I had the tytn2 and loved it except for the weight. I loved holding it and using it,the weight actually felt good in my hand, just to much poundage for the pocket. The T.C. really fit my bill. It is everything the ty2 was for me anyway. I don`t mind loosing the KB to lose the extra weight. And for some reason tomtom runs better on my cruise. The gps is snappier for one thing. I can wait to do long emails when I get home. For a short message the TC is just right.

one unintended side-effect that I've noticed with the Touch and it's lack of a physical keyboard or numbers, is that I can't play any of my Java based games. Using JBed from Esmertec, I can't navigate through the menus, nor can I do anything in any game (i.e. Command and Conquer).

I've got a tilt...I only use the keyboard about 20% of the time.
I've had a PDA for almost 10 years, so I use the transcriber most of the
time, unless it is a lengthy email.

I had a tytn II because i demanded a physical keyboard. 2 months went by and realized i didnt use it as muhc after installing touch keyboard/keypad on tytn II.

so i bought the cruise and love the flush screen, hard key plate, etc. software keyboard does the trick for me now. has it's downfalls, but for what i use it for it's great.

and the cruise just looks sexy.
