With the curve you can just use ppu, but you won't be able to add a "media net" plan. The pearl you wouldn't be able to use ppu.

Anyone else using Medianet on Curve?

Not really sure it's possible, if the Curve IMEI shows up on the account, the Medianet plan might be removed. I recently switched from a Curve and couldn't add the Medianet to my plan after removing BIS, customer support said it was due to BB IMEI still being on account and that system wouldn't allow Medianet usage with it.

How about if I add it before putting my SIM in the Curve?

If you have a BlackBerry activated already on the account (imei) the CSR would not be able to provision any media net plans, however the media net pay per use will continue to stay on the account and I have heard customers who have been able to atleast access the internet through the media net option and most likely third party apps.

I'm going to try it -- if not, I'll just add BIS.

when i had my curve it worked with medianet

the option to add it was on olam for me, not swapping sims or anything

PPU does work on the curve as stated above(not the pearl). The IMEI on the account does in fact prohibit you from adding the incorrect feature of media net, in place it has the option for blackberry personal for those not using a server. Thats the $30 option which also enables access to the email protion of BB. If you have a phone and get a hold of a Curve, you can still have Media net UNL until the IMEI is registered on your account.

then after that i cant have media net?

correct... only Pay Per use would be an option.

so will they take it off and notify me or should i just switch to BIS now?

well on mine, i had an 8125 first. then i bought the curve 8300 (it was a refurb) thru premier. then i went to add/remove features in olam and the option for media net unlimited was there. i added it and all was fine.

I dont know when that was, but they've since changed it according to IMEI since to many people were using the incorrect feature. They won't take it off or notify you, but upon changing your IMEI in the system it will make you update to a correct feature.

Wirelessly posted (neuro-devixe: BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Unless you can deduct the cost of data plan on the bb, It is very high at 30 dollars.
With the unlimited data at 15 bucks with a nice s60 I'd be happy as a pig in dirt.
