Problem with Alltel Pearl 8130...it is froze...

I got my blackberry pearl through alltel in Dec of 07. For the past week or so it has been locking up on me at random times. Normally when this happens I can pull the battery for about 30 sec, put it back in, and the phone will boot up fine. Today was different.

My phone locked and I pulled the batt. When I put it back in it shows the hourglass for a few seconds, then the screen goes blank and the red light comes on, then the hourglass comes back, then the screen goes blank and the red light comes back on. It has been doing this for about an hour now.

Anyone have a fix?

I would guess warranty? I got mine at the end of Dec. also and it's been locking up when I try to unlock the keypad. I press * and Send keys to unlock and nothing happens. So I just press the menu and then the trackball a couple times. Then the back button a few times and then it's back at the home screen. Did you install any themes around the time this first started? It seems like mine started this whole thing after I installed a couple themes. Another thing with mine is sometimes the zoom doesn't work for the camera. Maybe all the Alltel Pearls are junk refurbs and they just pawn 'em off on us!

I ended up being able to reload the OS. I lost all my contacts and everything but got the phone to reboot and be functional again.

Have you ever done a backup with Desktop Manager? If so, you should be able to do a restore to get everything back.
