Newbe here, but I have been reading the forum for the last few hours and haven't found answers to my specific questions.

For what its worth, I'm a Rogers subscriber in Ottawa.

1) Regarding unlocking, it is possible to unlock the W810i with just a code? I've found a site that claims it can provide me with a code for about $14. I've noted most posts talk about the need for special cables and I've also read about people sending money and not getting anything in return. I'd name the site, but I don't think I'm allowed to post such things on the forum. Sounds simple and if these phones are truly unlockable with just a code, them I'm inclined to go that route.

1a) If codes can unlock these phones, out of curiosity, does anyone know where the sites that sell these services get the codes from?

2) Someone asked if the power save timer could be changed, but I didn't see any answer. I do find the phone goes dark/off very quickly (4 seconds). Its keyboard locks quickly too. Any way to change the timer on that?

3) Lastly, I've read a lot about unbranding and features I'd have if I did this. When I got the phone, I was disappointed to discover that I couldn't send/receive email with it. If I unbranded the phone, would I have that capability? And if so, would I need a Rogers Data plan, or how would that service be provided to me?

I haven't seen any answers to my post, so I thought I would follow up with my own experience with an unlock code for my SE w810i on Rogers. I used an on-line ebay seller to get a code. Paid $15, and less than 24 hours later after following a couple of simple instructions to enter the code into my phone and I now have an unlocked phone.
