BlackBerry + other phones...problem?

Sounds totally n00bish I know...but, it's possible to use the BlackBerry (w/data plan) along with other mobile phones simply by swapping SIM cards, isn't it?

I'm getting another BB (thankfully...!!), and it will be my "daily driver" for sure...but I still want the option of using one of my other "dumbphones" on the weekends just for fun.

Will I have any difficulties that I need to know about?

Thanks!!

You shouldn't have any problems. I had a Blackberry die on me and had to use a dumb phone for a couple of days until my new BB arrived. You couldn't tell the difference.

Thanks for the info. I realize that I won't be able to utilize the BB email system and recieve push mail...but if there aren't any other performance issues, it's all good.

Yeah...just swapping SIMs. I just wanted to know what issues might come up, if any.

The only annoyance I experienced with SIM-swapping to a non-Blackberry phone is that when I did switch back to my Blackberry (after 3 months), all the e-mail from that 3-month period flooded in. I'm not sure if there's a way to turn that off.

If you're going to be using a dumb phone for an extended period of time, you can remove you email addresses from your BB before swapping SIMS and then just set it back up when you switch back. It will be a pain to set it all back up again, but easier than getting through 300+ emails at once.

Well, the main reason I asked is because some "SIM confusion" issues arose when I activated an iPhone recently on my Motorola SIM (so as not to lose my SIM contacts)...and when I started swapping back and forth between the two...suddenly voicemail wouldn't work on either phone, and the email was all jacked up and sporadic.

The AT&T tech I spoke to said it was common, and that the SIM was "confused" as the functionality of both these phones were so different in both these areas.

Could be BS...but that's what I was told, and just wanted to make sure that a similar problem wouldn't arise with the BlackBerry.
