I lost all my songs and pictures off the card. I received an error stating that I had to format the card to make it usable (again). Any ideas why? Defective SD? Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you format the card in your computer before downloading the items lost?

It prompted me to format when I first installed it, after formatting the card I added my songs to the card. I had no problems for about 2 weeks, then I went to play a song last night and I got a message saying the file could not be found. I checked under media and the card didn't even register. I checked under advanced options and received a message saying the card needed to be formatted. My first thought was maybe a corrupt file, but I'm not sure. I also just downloaded Berrytunes yesterday. Maybe that had something to do with it?
Edit: I never formatted it in my actual PC, didn't know I needed to. I just formatted it in my BB and downloaded MP3 files via USB.

Try removing the card, pulling the battery, and re-inserting the card.

No, you are correct in formatting it only in your handheld, I thought maybe you formatted it in your PC. I have never even purchased a card that required formatting. Like the previous poster said, try a battery pull.

Working in the Cell industry, i seen this many times next time format it VIA PC!! then upload and insert, my 6300 is the same way, otherwise it gave me a weird error!
Another problem could be the card itself. Is it one of those super-cheap basic ones [i.e. think Tiger Direct BS] or is it a decent brand [Kingston]??
That could very well be the problem right there...
cheers,
mike

Its a San Disk card. I read that its a decent brand but if I'm going to be reloading songs every 2 wks I'll invest in a Kingston. I did try the battery pull but with no luck.

Sounds like a bad card or your BB has a bad electrical connection with the card. It takes some doing to delete or corrupt one of these puppies.
I have a SanDisk 8GB card (only using 4GB till 4.5 OS is out), and I have experienced zero issues since I bought it a couple of months ago.
