Problems with Win 98 USB drivers
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't seem to get the drivers installed on my computer at home. I've downloaded the DSS-20 files from Sony Ericsson, unzipped. Then I plug the sync station into the USB port--when it starts looking for the driver I enter the path where I've unzipped the files (DSS-20) & it still cannot find.
What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Teri

Do you have the original CD that came with the phone? It has ME/98 drivers in a folder on it somewhere. Just tell the computer to search on the CD for the driver and you should find it. I don't have the CD handy, but if you still find it I'll find the exact path.
My problem lies beyond that: After working for a bit, the program says that the port is busy, no matter what I do. Oh well.
Good luck

When I purchased the phone the PC Suite was not available yet for Windows 98--I think it was the last software update that allowed functionality for Win98---Would the drivers be the same?
I'll try it anyway--
Thanks,
Teri

I did dowload this software, unzipped the file but the drivers could not be found when I tried to install the desk stand.

You can find the drivers on the CD that came with the phone. I want you to find them because I then want to see if you can sync the phone.
I am using the drivers that came on the CD, and my phone can be seen on the desktop, and I can install and stuff through the cradle, but when I try to sync the phone, it just keeps going and going and going and nothing happens.
I'd like to see if it's something related to my setup. Can u let me know if you have success using win 98.
The driver on the CD is good for ME and 98, I believe. When u plug in the cradle, and it asks for where the driver is located, specify your CD rom drive and do a search on it.

*****Update******
I was able to locate the "drivers" on the original disk, loaded successfully & sync'd my contacts---only thing I need to sync at home until I purchase Handy Safe.
Thanks for the help!!

Glad it worked out for you! Unfortunately for me, I guess it's a problem with my system and not the software as you are using it fine. I guess I'll have to make the upgrade to XP one day when I have time.

I noticed your from Asia....just curious is the Mineral Grey unit out in your region?

Yes, the grey is officiallly out. I've seen it at the Sony Ericsson Shop in Hong Kong. I didn't check the price or what language it was though. I can check up on it some time later if u need to know

I have been looking for this unit for some time now. The only place I have found is through LVWireless--however the price is $800.
Do you know of any place in your area that sells on-line & ships to the USA?
Thanks for your help!

Sorry, I don't know any online stores in Hong Kong that sell phones. I have a friend who owns a phone shop. Maybe I can ask him how much he'd charge if he would ship to US.
I know the price for a regular blue one is HKD$5280 at some stores, which is about: $680 US
