i ordered a blackberry refurb yesterday and I want to get a microSD card for it.
the att site says that it can be expanded up to 2gb. will it not recognize any more than 2? i want to get a 4gb but I just wanted to make sure im not limited 2gb before i spend the extra money. thanks

go ahead. Currently, 4gb is supported for sure along with alot of successful cases with 6gb/8gb. With introduction of the newest Blackberry OS this year, higher capacity memory card will be fully supported for sure. If 4gb works for you, then go for it.

Blackberry has an update available on there site that increases the capability of larger memory cards making the software read it properly. If you want to make sure your capable of getting your BB to take it, i'd do the upgrade and then be certain it will read it. I have memory cards for sale if you'd like. Message me if you'd like one shipped.

Wirelessly posted (neuro-devixe: BlackBerry8310/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

I have a dumb Q If you guys don't mind.
Whenever I slide the bb in and out of its case, the light goes on and off respectively.
What gives? How does that work?

The "sleeper" of the case put the phone into sleep/standby mode to save battery life when you put the bb into its case.

Which BB did you get? What OS is it running?

BlackBerry devices that have media card capabilities are: 8100, 8300 and 8800.

They all use a MicroSD card and have the following maximum card GB capacities:

* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
* BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8GB
