i was wondering if anyone knew the exact policy on transferring. They told me it would be a year. What happens if it was for school reason?

THe location i m at closes at 7 and is about 30 mins away from where i live. There is an opening in the town i m at and their office closes at 9 and the school is right there.

i m trying to graduate, and i can't do Tue/Thur classes anymore. Since classes are really narrow on what i need to graduate this Dec.

Wondering if anyone knew the policy?

thanks

I had a co-worker who transferred after 4 months to a store that was closer to his home. I think that its it just a move to the same position just a different store, they don't really care. If your trying to move up, I think thats what it really makes a difference.

man i dont know why they told me that?? is there anything in the books so i can back it up?

It really depends. I worked for Cingular back in 2005, and I tried to transfer after 9 months down south where my husband got a better job. Well, the HR department up north gave an exception, but it was after the first merger, and down here they wouldn't give the approval.

I am not sure now, and your location. You could ask management about it, and see where it goes from there.

yeah i asked my manager about it. He said has to be a year and brushed it off. This was before the school situation.

As far as I know you have to wait a year to apply for a promotion, but you can transfer to another store after 90 days of service.

My co-worker didn't even have to talk to HR, he just spoke to the manager at the store he wanted to transfer to and they took care of everything. I would just check into it with the store manager that you want to transfer to and with HR. Is the store you want to leave short handed?

I had some issues with a co-worker in my store that essentially came down to a "either he goes or I go" situation. I had planned on transferring to a store that is the same distance from home, with a manager that I know I can work with.. Then I get a call from my current SM saying that the ARSM won't let me transfer out of his district. I was offered a transfer to another store with a manager that I can also work with. However, this store is significantly harder for me to get to in the morning (I'm in NYC). It will go from a 25-30 min commute to a 35-50 min commute on the subway.. Yeah, we don't drive to work in the City... I'm going to talk to the ARSM tomorrow..

thanks for all the advice on this stuff, i had to go to the dish network class and DSL so i haven't talked to a manager yet. Plus the store i m at is at an old school one. The one i would be transferring to would be the new experience store.
