I am not sure this is the place I am supposed to ask such a question.
I have a Motorola Phone Model W385. I have purchsed the MPT software and I have tried to use it but the system does not find my phone. I know very little about cell phones and computers by theirselves and even less when they are combined.

Can someone point me in the right direction to get the MPT software to reconize my phone?

make sure u have the moto usb driver installed they should be in the phone tools dir

yes I have the drivers installed. i have tried using the MPT and the PK2 commander or whatever it is but it just keep giving me the cant find phone message.

Someone told me about unlocking the phone but i do not know how to get that done.
i went to verizon and they tried to unlock it but they said it could not be dobne as their software did not work with the w385

some versions of mpt did not reconize my w385 i had to use phone tools 4.5 or latter to be connected as for p2k i still cant get it to connect to my phone but phone tools works for both my wife (she has a w385 as well) and me lol but to be honest i am a noob in this feild. if i find something ill let u know

ok thanks. how do i find out what version i have? the software will not run unless it find my phone.

i guess the only one who read these forums is the one who need th emost help. anyway when I plug in my W385 phone I get the found new hardware message. It trys to install and goes through all the steps but cannot find the drivers it needs. I put in my MPT CD and it searches that but still does not find anything. It searches my computer and the windows updates and everything else I can fidn. still no luck! when I run the update for MPT it says I have the lastest version installed but my install CD is for version 4.0. where would i find an update to 4.5? do I have to pay for it also as I have already paid $25 for this software and cable. what is a person to do?

ok what u wana do is

open motorola driver installer.exe

run that .. clear the drivers .. then hit update and reinstall drivers .. then run MPT .. should work ? I am usin it now on my W385

ok where do I get this driver installer.exe file? are you a verizon customer? if so did you have to get your phone unlocked to make this work? Verizon will not unlock my phone. they say that they do not support this type of activity. if I want to transfer pictures or ringtones I have to do it their way. which means i have to email the pics on my phone to myself. there is no way i can get pics from my computer to my phone. same thing with the ringtones. if i want to get new ringtones they have to come from Verizon and I have to pay for them.

Go to developer.motorola.com. You will have to sign up, but they aren't fraudulent or anything and they won't pester people. Search for "handset drivers". Download and install them. Then, re-run MPT, and it should work. Good luck!

I have also re-installed drivers many times and still can not get it to detect my phone.
