Using a Sprint Motorola Q on Verizon

I came across a Sprint Motorola Q that I would like to get working with my Verizon service. Through Verizon's website I was able to add the Q to my account using the ESN, however when I did *228 to program the phone, it could not be completed. I'm guessing I need to flash the phone with some other firmware, or at least tweak some settings somewhere to get it out of "Sprint mode". Is this possible, or does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Thanks!

sorry buddy. since its a sprint phone the esn is not in vzw's database, so to my knowledge, no matter what firmware you put on the phone, it will not be able to authenticate on the vzw network.
that is the downside of cdma phones, they arent easily moved from one carrier to another if they can be moved at all

its weird though, i can enter the esn on the verizon website, and it says the phone is successfully on my account. all the correct phone information shows up on the site, too. its just when i dial *228 to program it, a voice says my phone cannot be validated. i'm guessing it's still trying to call sprint instead of verizon.

It is not an ESN problem. It is a PRL problem. It is probably preferring Sprint towers, so the OTA activation won't work. You will need to upload a different PRL, but don't ask me how. I am oblivious to the Q. Ask in the Win Mobile forum.
