rokr z6 color banding

After about one month of use, the display on my Rokr Z6 started to show significant banding. The display now looks like it is only capable of displaying about 256 colors. I have no idea what may have caused this. The rest of the phone seems to work fine. I have reset the phone, but the problem was not changed.

When I use the camera function on the phone the banding still exists, but the pictures look normal when sent to others or downloaded to my computer.
Any ideas for a course of action? I was stupid enough to give away my backup phone, so I really don't want to send it back to Motorola (unless they come out with a better phone and I can use the repaired Z6 as a backup).
