We’ve gotten our hands on the official product video of Paris, and even though we won’t be able to show you the video at this point in time (wait two weeks!), we can show you a few screen shots from the video with the most crucial parts blurred out a bit.

Paris will feature a full keyboard in known P1-style - below the screen, that is! Why? Well, Paris is a slider! It looks drop-dead-gorgeous and is set to slay, yes SLAY, other competitors on the market. It runs UIQ 3.3, and well, have a look at the picture. That pretty much says it all.

Paris will be announced before the end of May, and will be available in shops as early September! We haven’t got a price tag on this baby as of yet, but we’ll definitely be trying to sniff it up! So, picture after the jump! We’ll show you a picture of the back a bit later on

If they don't make this quad-tri they will be in danger of losing even more market share. I'm keeping my eye on this one, as I'm getting bored with Nokia. Really bored.

And bodeh, isn't shiho supposed to be 7MP and have wifi, tv-out, etc?

I know it doesnt have too good a pic..do you think the slider goes like the X1 or like the w580...if this one has all those features..7mp,tv out,wifi..it will be killer..

That alone is uncivilized ... we also want WiFi as well

It looks like the same X and Y dimensions of the m600i and P1i, but thicker for the slider. I much prefer the keypad on top like the m600i/P1i especially seeing as they don't seem to be utilizing the whole top real estate for the screen ala iPhone.

doesn't look to promising imo.. they need to go with a bigger screen.. at least 2.8-3.0.. this looks 2.6 ish guesss their first goal is to compete against the n95-6 etc....

The "rumours" are that it is a 2.8" screen.

If you believe those, then this is also not supposed to be the high-end UIQ device but a mid-range device (which would make sense as this appears to be a thinner version of the N95 with a touchscreen and a QWERTY keypad.)

Where did you find that it won't have AF? I strongly doubt they wouldn't put AF on a 5MP camera...at least I hope they wouldn't be that stupid -

Finally a sliding cover for the camera. Cell phone cameras have a useful life of like 1 week for me before picking up so much dust and lint and crap on the lense that the pictures are loaded with them.

This sliding cover is a welcome sight~!

they missed out on the jog-dial, open qwerty, (not like p1i), and xenon and better designed back side and colour scheme.. not at all my next cell..

I'll be waiting for the next Cyber-shot model myself. Paris will definitely fit the bill for some people, but I'd really like a xenon flash, and I'm still undecided as to whether or not I really need an all out smartphone. Time will tell

Sony Ericsson seems to be obsessed with photoflash recently, and they'll probably try to improve photoflash as much as they can and perhaps only include xenon on their higher speced models.

That would make sense for them I guess. Maybe they'll only be using xenon flashes on their Cyber-shot models; that could be one way for them to differentiate that line of phones from their others. That would suck though, it'd be nice to have an uber smartphone with xenon flash. Who knows what SE has up their sleeves? Maybe they'll surprise us

It does, but I chalk that up to bad image compression. Other pictures of the back have looked excellent.

And here's to hoping it has all frequencies.

That's unfortunate...I hope they make up for this with Shiho. That's the one I'm really waiting for. Paris had potential though, but I guess not anymore.

That is of an old prototype, so the final configuration may not be like that at all. The two major protos that exist are one with a 2.6 QVGA screen and another with a 2.8 VGA screen. This one depicts the first and it's likely not the final.

seems like SE is stuck on taking the road to failure... high prices with cheap parts... have fun sinking to the bottom lol..might be too early to make this prediction... but we know the p5i annoucement is just around the corner

I hope so...let's hope they have been lurking around internet forums and realize they need to change this sucker if it wants to even have a chance to compete with the current generation of Nseries.

Truthfully, we won't know until it's announced.

Though if it is announced and is in this circa-2006 configuration, I'm saving my money for the 2009 Nokia touchscreen flagship after the Tube.

it is not "canned" per se. we are hearing that they are keeping the same form of the phone, but upgrading its hardware. it will have a new name, because SE re-codenames a prototype phone when they update its hardware. Look for it to be code named "Hecaro"

New Images... notice the back design has changed.

There are a few rumors that say this could be now a walkman device instead (16GB upcoming one) although I personally doubt that.

this will not be the new walkman device. this will definitely be the new P series flagship phone, and a separate Walkman flagship will emerge. If they follow the w950 -> w960 trend, it'll be the w970, a candybar style phone running UIQ (probably 3.3)

And this definitely won't be a Walkman phone. Look for the next walkman phone to definately have a Walkman-tailored UIQ with Touchscreen, similar to the W960.
No, the P series has always been a little more about functionality, and all-around usability. Quick guess at the specs, I'll say 8GB hd, basic music player (walkman look alike) 5mp camera (duh) LED flash (BOOOO) UIQ 3.3 (Woot!) Touchscreen? The screen seems small, but the original Paris shots showed the finger touching it... maybe it was just feeling the screen smoothness...

I never really like the original P1i cuz of how it looked (lil klunky) and it didn't have a proper music player but... this could easily correct that.
One last thing. I'm looking at the keyboard, and noticing lack of a full QWERTY... it is just me, or does the phone seem to be going in the direction of the two letter per key style like the blackberry pearl?
