i used to have the 903sh and i remember there was a renaming method to get the aac ringtone to work...there was a downloaded sample ringtone (downloaded from vodafone japan) and all i had to do was set dat as ringtone and den rename my own aac ringtone to the sample ringtone and it worked....just wondering if dis would work too....

i think 905i series support WMA as ringtone, but they have to be transfered using something called "Copyright" protected memory card reader... who the hell invented that? does anyone know about it or have one of those? if you do please try it out and show me what it looks like and where to buy, thank you.

and a small tip for any of you who don't know, P905i can use self made videos as ringtone. (yes just like how 920sh supports mp4 ringtone) it supports the highest resolution of 640X480, and must be saved DIRECTLY onto the phone, if you save it on the TF and move it to the phone, it won't work.

Really? Have you tried it out using it as ringtone? If this works, it will be a great news for P905 users!

nope doesnt work, if moved to phone, it will convert back to qvga and is greyed out if tried to set as ringtone.

I think he means like recording a video and saving it directly to the phone, like using the camera to record someone o.O since I don't have a working sim hack I can't test this....

Does u mean that using USB Data Cable to transfer from PC to P905i?
Coz I made a mp4 clip on PC than useing TF to transfer it, it really did not work. Are you sure that usb data cable make mp4 works likes a rington?

I think I know what he means!!! Alright, not many of us are going to like this method but it is a solution.

You turn on your camera and set the image quality to the crappiest possible (this will save space) cause you're only recording sound anyways. Double check to make sure your video is being saved to your phone and not microSD. Then you turn on your speaks and start playing your favourite song and start recording. When you're finished save it to i-mode.

Now.. Go to Menu -> Settings -> Sound -> Select Ring tone -> Phone -> Select Ring tone -> i-motion -> i-mode

There you will see your new "video" of your favourite song. Vola! You've got a non-midi/MLD/AAC ringtone

However, most of us would imagine this will give poor sound quality =/ That's something that we have to put up with.

PS: If you are saving to the phone directly there is a limitation on how long you can record your video (Is it 8 seconds or 8 mins? I forget)... if for w/e reason you need to go over that limit, save it to your microSD first (in fact if you change your file size limit to "Long" it will do that for you) and then transfer it back to your phone. Please note that your phone will not allow anything more than approx 90MB.

PSS: I've tried it just now and well.. it doesn't sound that good

PSSS: If this actually works and the format is ASF I'm starting to wonder if we can actually make these MP3 ringtones as ASF file format and transfer them into the phone via MicroSD. I will test this at around 7pm tomorrow.

It still has limitation...but if use the other camera, not the 510w's one, time will get extension. HOWEVER.....the quantity is really pooooor....

did you have any luck?

did the whole converting to ASF thing work?

Posted by: yamagatacamille

A temporary solution, but *sigh* it does work. so thanks for that!

one little quirk though, in Movie mode, there's a selection "Movie type set" --> go to "Voice" and no video is used, and you're not limited to 20 secs or whatever time video mode has. same quality however, but no video shown when someone calls you ^_^

yamagatacamille what did you use to convert the file into asf? and where did you place the file.. i tried it out today but i cant seem to get it working

Posted by: murdoc2k

you can record it as a voice memo thing and it should work as well. This way you don't even need to record a video for it.

sorry, I guess I wasn't clear; I was referring to murdoc2ks post on using the audio from video files (iMotion) as a ringtone; the SQ is garbage though but I guess it's better than nothing.

you've tried the ASF thing? maybe hopefully someone could get a decent ringtone through, but it aint easy.

murdoc2k, if you're using Voice Announce, you're limited to only 15 seconds, and SQ isn't any better.
