Stated that all smartphones, including blackberries, will be 3G enabled within a few months.

For those that are on the fence between a blackberry and a 3G smartphone.

:-)

"AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega confirmed that all of AT&T's smartphones, including BlackBerries and the Apple iPhone, will be running on AT&T's 3G network within months."

Silly question when you say "all" does this include all new phones coming out. Or existing phones like the original Curve 8300 and the newer 8320? This will be sick if i can get highspeed on my Curve!

It would have to be all new phones wouldn't it? I didn't think the current batch of GSM Blackberries supported 3G... If they can somehow magically make my 8820 3G capable, sweet

As far as I know the GSM radio in the 8820 is only EDGE capable, but I may be wrong. I believe the more likely situation is that AT&T's CEO is referring to the new BlackBerry 9000, which was delayed due to an issue with battery life, presumably because of the increased power requirement of 3G and a higher res screen.
