After having a w600 I just yesterday picked up a w580. I'm not all that much sold on it yet and was just wondering if any of you could recommend another phone that you feel would be more similar to the user friendliness of the w600.

w580 issues so far in comparison to the w600. Petty ones, but oh well.

1) No simple slide lock function

2) I find the body of the phone to be very slippery. Doesn't have that nice soft grip, almost silicone like texture to it. I've almost dropped it a few times in less than 24 hrs.

3) Don't like the fact that the headphone/Charger/USB plug has no cover on it.

i'm sure some others will soon follow.

thx.

don't know if you're gonna be able to find newer se phones with the simple slide lock function. same with the nice soft grip. and also all the newer se phones don't have the cover on the headset/charger plug. other than the k790/k800 with the similar grip as the w600, i don't know if you can find other se phones that meet your criteria.

oh btw, sliding your phone down will automatically lock your phone if you set it up. just to let you know. =)

yep, I know this.

But I much like the slide lock function for it's accessibility. e.g, If I need to change a track or something, I can just flick the switch and do so, with out having to open the phone up first. Which in my opinion, adds to more wear and tear of the phone.

Anyway, I've phone something that looks to be out soon if not already.

The Ericsson w380, which, after reading a particular thorough review, seems like it may have everything i'm looking for and then some.

Gesture control? Now that sounds nice. Much better than this pathetic shake shuffle nonsense. Seriously,...............is there anyone out there that bought the 580 for the 'shake' feature?

lol that shake feature is pretty nonsense to me too. but i had a couple of friends that bought it cause of that useless feature. lol

the power of advertising. that's sony ericsson's forte - they can sell snow to eskimos......and they can even manage to sell k850i's, s500's, w580i's, and others to customers.
it's a rare gift they have.

I don't like my w580 as much as I liked my w600

I actually gave my w600 to a friend and now I feel like I should give him my w580 and get thw w600 back, I mean that phone was awesomeness, I felt so cool when I give it to someone to look at it and they spend 1 minute trying to open and then I take it back and swirl it 180 degrees....(lol, I did have some scary moments though - people trying to open it as a flip phone I literally got angry and yelled "NOOOO" many times.)

But yea, I liked my w580 for about a month, now it's just not that cool anymore. I wish ATT comes out with z750i that looks like a promising phone.....
