DoCoMo P905i and SH905i: Which one would you recommend?

I'm thinking about getting a new phone, and its down to the P905i or the SH905i.
I've looked through the forums, and found that the P905i has a way better camera than the SH905i. But the camera aside, which phone would you guys recommend?

Thanks!

I would recommend using the SH905i since your using rogers, rogers users have a lot of problems with finding the proper sim hack (if there is one) to use with a P905i

ah I see. I was kind of leaning towards the SH905i in the beginning
Thanks for your suggestion!

Get F905i!
At least F905i has solid connection when i tried it.

oh, wow, I wasn't aware that this phone existed. I will definately check this out

i would get the sharp, it has better looking menu and fonts and flip cover. p905i has the best camera in all current Japanese phones, but i wouldn't care.

I vote for SH if you're going for style and looks. In my opinion the SH looks better than the P when closed. The external LED's of the SH is quite flashy.. I set them to display a rainbow of colours whenever I open / close the flip, receive calls, and sms.

Functionality I would go for the P. Ridge Racer's amazing. Watching videos with the screen flipped sideways is better than the SH's because the rest of the phone can be used like a dock, so the screen would be tilted at an easy viewing angle, whereas if you don't have the charging dock for SH, the phone will have to lie flat on the table.

SH is basically all for looks.. it's also hard to set ringtones, and the menus are a bit more confusing than other 905i's (from other peoples experience and comparing it to my F905i)

if you're going for the looks, definately the SH
but if this isn't going to be your main phone, and you're just going to use it on the weekends or something, get SH, especially the white one, it gets a lot of attention. ahha
if not, the P would be a bit better pick cuz of the camera/bluetooth/ringtones
the P is also a bit thicker.. so if thats a concern, dont get it.

simhack is also a problem.. its harder to find a simhack that works with rogers+P than rogers+SH.

i'm using the inex hypersim for F905i. it is very stable. even on the SH905i.

The P has an amazing camera for both pictures and video. I've been using the 920P (Softbank's clone of P905i) and I've been loving the camera. I recently switched over to a FULLFACE2 (921SH) and the camera is nearly as bad as the SH905i, and it hurts going back to pictures with quality this bad.

On the other hand, if you compare wallpapers side-by-side (which I did), the Sharp definitely has better colors.

As most people have said, it comes down to which of these you care about more:

Looks/display quality: Sharp
Camera/functionality: Panasonic

Also, watch out for sim hack issues with the Panasonic. The only reason I got my brother a Sharp is cause I didn't know of a sim hack that would for sure work with Rogers.

As for the F model, I'm really not a fan. There doesn't seem to be anything special about it. It has a VGA display and a 3.2MP cam, but neither are anything to brag about. I don't like how when the screen rotates to the side, it's not centered. It looks akward. And I think it's really ugly except for the wicked LEDs, although everyone's idea of what looks good is different.

I see, thanks for all the replies.
One question: How about sim hacks with fido? is it easier to find a compatible sim hack for the P905i with fido than with rogers?
thanks!

Posted by: yummin

So far the most compatible SIM for Fido is the SM32 type. ST32 is second, and the new 3G.1 and UO 2 types are unrecognizable by any phone.

For Rogers, the old 3040 type is the only one that works so far.

Posted by: right_l1

ah I see, I have the 3040 series for rogers.
For fido, if I signed up for a plan now, would I get the ST32? or SM32? or is it dependent on luck?

Posted by: riel

If you get it from Fido, they will probably give you the newest one. Buy it on BST and they might have different ones.

One reminder for anyone thinking about getting the F905i, it has NO bluetooth.
That was the killer for me, would have gotten it otherwise.

Fido's warehouse and most Fido stores have run out of SM32 cards. You'll be getting either the 3G.1 or UO 2 cards.
