Motorola e815 battery swelling

I noticed last night that the battery cover on my phone has about an 1/8 inch gap on one corner. I removed it to see if it had warped somehow, but it was fine. I then checked and found the battery was swollen. Has anyone ever had this to happen to their phone? Any ideas as to the cause?
I suspect a bad battery since it is the original and is over 2 years old. Any suggestions as to the best place to buy one will be appreciated.

Yep, happened to the BR50 in my RAZR. Slightly miffed by it. I'm a gadget freak (or was anyway) and I've never seen this happen to any rechargeable.. For this to happen in a genuine Motorola piece is disappointing =\

Happened on my OLD Moto C33iT and an unused SE w810i. I don't know what causes it though. My w810 REFUSED to charge my battery though. Probably for the best...
