904sh SMS problem

MODS: if this is better served in the Rogers board, im sorry and please feel free to move it.

The deal is i unlocked my 904 today on Rogers and i can call in/out but texting is not working AT ALL.

i have the right message center number, which i am hoping is +17057969300, which is the default number obtained by the phone from the SIM.

i put the sim in my sister's iphone and it was able to recieve the rogers sms that they sent but when i planted it in my phone and tried to send a test message, i keep getting a "Send failed." notification. my buddies have prolly sent me over 9000 messages, and i havent recieved any yet. phone memory is still at 1%...

and yes, just to cover all the options, im pretty sure the rogers rep put up texting on my account... communicate pack or something according to the contract...

would it matter if i used 778228xxxx or 1778228xxxx or +1778228xxxx as numbers to use when calling / texting? i noticed +1778228xxxx appears when someone calls me, but everyone knows the base number doesnt have the +1 prefix. and yes, i tried all 3 numbers to send out but none of them work. i can call out with 778228xxxx though.

anyway, the unlock solution i have is a NextSim V6 that i bought along with my buddy. his 705 can call in/out and sms in/out no problems.

Network is set to automatic, network type auto, no roaming icon (briefcase)

General settings: home and roam download set to always download, message type free

SMS settings: expiry set to max, with message center set to +17057969300

ill be posting more info if you guys need anymore... i really need to get this going on monday, and i doubt rogers tech support will be ready to help out on a phone that is not native to their network.

mods please close the thread, i cant edit the post anymore (probably cause i already edited it once awhile back) and im planning on taking this to the Rogers board since the problem DOES NOT lie on the 904. So sorry. i should have investigated further.

are u typing in a subject when writing the message? if so, then that message becomes an mms and not sms. at least that's what my problem was.

i fixed my problem by going to Messaging > Messaging Settings > General Settings > Message Type and set it to "SMS" and not "Free". That way, when you're creating a new message, the subject field doesn't appear and you can just edit the message.

yea. that's what i did too. and that +1705... number is the same as the one that shows up on my phone.

haha thanks for the replies, but no, i couldnt send any texts out not because it was switching to MMS, cause ive been forcing it to SMS already, but because when i ported my number from Bell to Rogers, the SMS servers havent been updated for Rogers and, since i didnt have service from Bell anymore, the SMS had nowhere to go. I just waited for the Rogers SMS center to update my number for their service and voila, i could text already.
