Samsung Q105

Overall, the Q105 is an average phone.

Voice reception is clear. I am told voice transmission is clear as well. However, the actual features of the phone are not totally as described on the Samsung site. There is no calculator and only one alarm. This phone does not share accessories with any other Samsung phone, even the ear bud has a proprietary 2.5mm plug. PIM function exists but is cumbersome to sync with PC even with the supplied software. Phone comes with everything you might need (sync software, scsi cable for PC, slim battery and travel charger) with the exception of a way to carry the phone (holster, case or clip). For the asking price of this phone (199.99 w/new activation from VoiceStream) I would expect not only a way to carry the phone but also voice dialing, easy syncing, calculator and multiple alarms.

Summary (highest possible=5): Performance=4, Form factor=4, Features=2, Overall=3

"I would expect... also voice dialing,"

Am I understanding you correctly... No voice dialing on the Q105?

Actually, the Q105 does share some accessories with the N105, and teh Q105 does have more than one Alarm. The cable the phoen comes with though is not SCSI, but serial.

Now that I have had my Q105 for a little bit longer, I would like to say some of the pros and cons that I have foudn with this phone.

Pros:
Large screen size
Easy-to-navigate menus
One of the best world phones for the price (got mine free after rebate)
The phone has most of the features you need: GPRS, CSD, dual-band GSM, full calendar displayed in normal calendar format!
Very clear calls and an exellent hands-free headset

Cons:
Even with Active Flip disabled, closing the flip will end a call. Furthermore, closing the flip will exit all menus and return the user to the main screen. In other words, if you close the flip while using the WAP browser, the phone will exit the WAP browser. This is by far teh worst "feature" of the phone.
The ringtones the phone comes with are HORRIBLE, and there are only two spaces for available custom ringtones
One-touch dialing is difficult to setup. The way to do it is to first figure out which one-touch number you want assigned to which phone number. Then, copy all of your phone numbers to the PHONE's address book, not the SIM CARD's address book. Then delete all the entries off the SIM CARD's address book. Next, in the order that you want phone numbers assigned to one-touch numbers (starting with 1), copy the phone numbers back to the SIM CARD. In other words, if you want HOME to be called when you press 1 and then send, copy HOME to location 1 of the SIM CARD. Then when you want to dial a number, simply enter the number's location on the SIM card and press send. In other words, if you enter the number 15 and press send, the phone should dial the number in location 15 of the SIM card. Don't forget to remove entries from the phone's address book so that their are no duplicates.
No voice dialing

So in other words you all are telling me that I should keep my Motorola Timeport P280.

Should I keep my Motorola P280? I trying to make the transition from my Nokia 3390. I have my pros and cons.

I'm upgrading my Panasonic TX210 only b/c AT&T is pretty crappy here. Neway, I bought a V60g yesterday and was wondering if the Q105 would have been a better choice b/c the StarTac I use to use is total crap. I still have time to change my order so please tell me what u guys think about the v60 vs q105 thanx

btw, does the v60 support CSD wap?
