Hi Folks,

Newbee here. Has anyone got any information on the changes between firmware 5.50 and 06.01 on the 6300. I would really like to know as I wasn't totally happy with the update to 5.50 and I dont want to make the same mistake again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

was unaware of an update. any reason to jump from 4.71?

Just upgraded this afternoon from 5.5. Scared the S***t out of me. Nokia updater counted down from 15 minutes, and remained on 5 minutes and finally timed out "USB connection to phone lost" and then "remove battery from phone and reinsert and restart. Keep in mind the phone at this time had a white screen with "TEST" the only text on it. Everything turned out OK. After taking battery out and restarting phone *#0000# shows 6.01 and the phone seems fine. I'm not sure if this is irregular or not.
Will think twice before doing this again. I detect no discernable difference immediately, but will pay attention as time passes.

after my install of 6.01, i seem to get more drop calls. Sometimes even when i try to make a call it would just beep and hang up. Menu does seem faster.

I bought a 6300 with English menues, and want to update it with Norwegian firmware.
I have changed the product code with NSS, so now I guess I'll just update the firmware, and the menues will be in Norwegian?

I ran into some problems trying to "update" the firmware with Nokia Software Updater.
I already have v6.01 installed, so the program just tells me there is no need to update. Does this mean I have to wait for a new version, or is there some other way around this?

From my understanding, you gotta wait for a new version.
NSS won't let you revert back once you've upgraded to a newer one.

Actually, this was just a stupid mistake from my side.
After taking out the battery, and restart the phone, i was able to install v6.01 in norwegian.
