I used Ziphone, with absolutely no problems, to Unlock and Jailbreak my 8GB iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware. It worked like a charm and I have had no issues or problems with my iPhone since doing this. I keep hearing bad things about Ziphone and how it permanently locks in your bootloader to 3.9. Now… my concerns and questions are this. 1. Is having a 3.9 bootloader a bad thing? I am sure older iPhones have different bootloaders. Doesn't matter anymore, new tools allow you to move back and forth easily. 2. Is this going to affect the upcoming 2.0 firmware and will I be able to download and use it? Nop, see answer one. 3. I have read there is something called “Bootneuter”, will this fix the problems that Ziphone has done to our iPhones? There is no problem, Ziphone downgrades your bootloader irreversibly to 3.9, now with the release of pwnage/bootneuter recently you can upgrade back. 4. Is there something else that can be done to help this issue? What issue? I guess I am in the dark and need some answers and help with this issue. |

Well, I decided to try Bootneuter. It worked perfectly and now I am back to 4.6. Everything works with no problems at all. So it is possible to change around the bootloader without using pwnage at this point in time, since us windows users dont have access to pwnage yet. akaclarkkent... you can check your system info (bootloader) with the BBInfo app. Check you "All Packages" |

Made sure my iPhone was really set at 3.9 witht he BBinfo app. Restarted my iPhone and then proceeded to run Bootneuter with Neuter ON, FakeBlank OFF, and Unlock ON and then hit Flash (make sure you have Autolock to Off though). 3 minutes later it was done. Checked back with BBinfo and presto... it was at 4.6. That was it. Really easy and really painless. Make sure you also restart your iPhone afterwards too. |
