I also would like to add ringtones and wallpaper to my Rumor LG. I have BitPim, the usb drivers and a data cable that works...no luck with BitPim. I can see the filesystem, and when i try to alter the phone data, the window is grayed out.
Any help would be welcome..i don't want to buy over the air stuff, if I have a cable and things i want to put on my phone.

Thanks in advance.

You need to get a USB cable for the phone.

Download BitPim, plug in your phone [with USB set to Modem], and install the LG Phone drivers if your computer does not automatically find the drivers.

Open up BitPim and click on view. Make sure there is a check next to "View Filesystem." If not, click on it to check it. Then, plug in the phone. It will not detect LG LX260 but will say "Other CDMA Phone on Com *."

On the left hand side of BitPim, expand the folder Filesystem. Then click on dload and right click on "lg_mysound.dat" and back it up to your computer. Once you have backed the file up, delete it.

Now expand the folder brew and media and lk and finally click on ms. Then, open up the folder on your computer with your ringtone files, and drag them into the ms folder in BitPim. It will take about 30 seconds or so to add each file.

Once you have added all of your ringtones, close bitpim, unplug the phone from your computer, restart, and enjoy.

This was taken from a method used on a different LG phone and I tested it myself. As for pictures/wallpappers I believe they are located under brew > media > mp.

This doesn't work for sprint phones, the filesystem is different.

anyone know how to do this for the bell mobility version of the LG Rumor (LG260) ?

I have the LG rumor LX260 from sprint, and bitpim will recognize it, but it wont let me transfer the ringtones i made to it... I had an LG chocolate VX8500 from verizon and it worked perfectly, idk what to do?

The only way I was able to get ringtone on my daughter's Rumor was to make video ringtones. I already made some and posted on my funformobile site. They have to be in 3g2 format and saved on an SD card to work. You can use mp3 as ringtones, but you have to be able to save them on the internal memory of the Rumor. My wife's Rumor has a data plan, so is no problem there.

i started using the voice memo function to get ring tones on my rumor.

you can have the ringtone sent to your phone as an MMS message, thats how i do it with http://www.cellsware.info/ringtones . you can upload it to the site and then have it sent to the phone.
