Playing videos from the memory card in a Verizon RAZR v3m?

I got a 2GB micro-SD card and I can put video files on it and then transfer it to the phone to play it but I am wondering is there any way to simply play the file from the memory card directly? It's a pain in the butt to keep having to move music and videos back and forth. Thanks.

Shouldn't have to move the files. First, the video (movie, TV show, whatever) must be in "3G2" format. You can convert just about any video file to that using "Super" (absolutely free) . . .
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
You'll have to wade your way through several pages of wondrous words about "Super" to find the "download" link. You'll ultimately find it in some obscure print near the bottom of the third web page ("Download SUPER © setup file"). His site doesn't let you link directly to that page or the download. Watch the bit rates, especially the audio, when transcoding from whatever to a 3G2. The phone only has so much processor horsepower and internal bus bandwidth (to read from file and render it on screen). It isn't a video iPod (which was made for playing video).

Next, put the "3G2" video on the "root" of the micro-SD card . . . in other words, don't create any directories on the card for videos, and don't put it in an existing directory. It should show up as a video you can play by wading through the phone menu:
GET IT NOW --> 2. Get PIX & FLIX --> 4. My FLIX

I've put 3G2 videos on my V3m using MPT File Transfer in the Multi-Media Studio (after enabling USB file transfer with a SEEM edit), and identifying it to MPT as a V3mm (instead of a V3m). HackTheRAZR has complete instructions on how to enable two-way USB file transfers and how to enable MMS in MPT (which is disabled and grayed-out in MPT by Verizon -- if it's identified as a V3m).

In the "File Transfer Studio" section of MMS (in MPT), the micro-SD shows up as the "MMC(Removable)" folder. Alternative is plugging the card into a flash card reader and dropping the 3G2 files onto it directly, and then putting it back into the phone. Either way it should show up and you should be able to play it directly from the menu sequence given above. I use MMS in MPT as pulling the card out and putting it back is (ahem) a PITA, especially as I've got the large extra-capacity battery and keep the phone in a leather skin.

Hope this helps.
