I know someone asked about this.

I finally got my Z9 to sync with Leopard via iSync using Bluetooth, I found the plugin files for the Razr2 V9, and edited the MetaClasses.plist to work with the Z9.

The iCal sync portion doesn't work, but contacts do. I plan to keep digging and see if I can get the calendar to sync as well.

After I do some tweaking to make sure this is going to work properly, I will get the files together and the instructions on how to complete this posted in the next few days for anyone wanting to use it.

Youre kidding me, so all this time I was able to sync my V9 with my ical & Contacts on my Mac? I have never heard anyone say this is possible. Could you link me to this info? Thanks.

Also thanks for making progrerss on the Mac/Z9 front. I am thinking about picking one up.

I am envious! I have the Z9, Mac Book Pro, Leopard, and the moto v9 plugin .. I would love to know your "tweaks" to the file to be able to isync my Z9 with my Mac!!

No, still doing the same thing, can move calendar entries from phone to Mac, but not from Mac to phone. I have looked over everything thing in the files several times and can't find the remedy.

Been trying to send you a private message with update, but your storage is full.

I finally I got iCal to Sync with my Z9, there are still a few small issues, one of my calendar entries gave me a error stating it wouldn't sync, but it did. Then had one reoccurring event that duplicated its self, but only on a couple of the dates.

I'm headed back into the plist editor to see if I can find the answers.

I have synced probably 50 times, and have not received any other errors, duplicates or other issues. I think the duplicates were to do to every time a change is made in the metaclasses.plist, I have to remove the device and add it back as a new device. Still not sure why the one event gave me error, but synced anyway, I have not seen it again. I will continue putting it through its paces for a few days by adding and deleting several test entries to see what happens.

This is good news. Will it also work on the V9 or is it different?

Probably needs a few slight changes, but nothing to serious. I don't have a V9 to test it with.

i synced the first time and i got duplicates, I deleted the data base on the z9 after i saw all those duplicates, then re synced the phone again, PERFECT!
all my contacts are in my phone and each contact has all the appropriate data!

I have had a few very minor issues with this, all seems to be around the category area of contacts and the event type in the calendar. I can not stress this enough, MAKE A BACKUP PRIOR TO USING, just in case.
I have been working at trying to get the bugs out, but not having much luck, hoping someone else can step in and fix this.

I just saw that "iSync and Leopard". Does this mean it will not work on 10.4 which I beleive is panther?

10.4 is Tiger, I have no way of knowing whether or not it will work with it, I put Leopard in the tile because that's what I'm running. You can always try it and see if it recognizes the phone and see if it syncs, just remember make a backup before you do.

I tried cmatthews' plugin and although it synced up my Mac's Address Book and iCal with my Z9 quite nicely, there was a bug in which any phone number listed as "mobile" in the Mac Address Book would show up as "Other" on the Z9. If you changed the number on the Z9 to "Mobile", the Mac Address Book would list the number as "other". Certainly not a deal killer of a bug, but annoying nonetheless.

In case anyone else has this issue, here's how I fixed it. Inside the MOTOZ9.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/PhoneConduit.plist file, there's a section labeled com.apple.contacts.Phone Number. In it, this definition is being used for mobile numbers:

It should read:

You can use TextEdit to change the PhoneConduit.plist file so that it now reads like the above, and all the usual caveats about backing up the original copy of the plugin, your Address Book, your iCal, etc. apply.

The tag that's all in capital letters is a vCard 2.1 property, and needs to be one of the following values: PREF, WORK, HOME, VOICE, FAX, MSG, CELL, PAGER, BBS, MODEM, CAR, ISDN, or VIDEO. Since "MOBILE" doesn't exist on this list, it got mapped onto "Other", instead. Switching this to "CELL" gives the correct mapping. The second "mobile" is the field that Address Book uses to categorize the phone number.

There are some other Mac Address Book mappings that go to nothing, like "main" and "other", but these seem to default to "Other" on the Z9.

There appears to be some other bugs, as in testing this fix I noticed that sometimes changes on the phone and then making the same change on the Mac Address Book led to different results, but at least this part seems to be settled.
