RAZR2 v9m ringtone folder?

Quick question-

My wife has a RAZR2 v9m, and the microSD card slot is under the battery. I can't figure out what folder the ringtones go in - does anybody know?

Ring tones can't be on the card.

They need to be in the phone's memory... located in /motorola/shared/audio

Great, how do I do that?

I have a motorola/shared/audio folder on my card, actually, but placing the ringtones there, doesn't work.

I have Motorola Phone Tools, and it updated to the latest version, I think it said 4.51a or 4.51c.

As I said, the phone is a RAZR2 V9m, but that's not on the list. The closest the list had was MOTORAZR2V9MMxxx where X was 3 different letters. I figured that was it.

It found the phone OK, and the phone asked if I wanted to pair them. It accepted the PIN number MPT gave me. But the phone kept asking if I wanted to communicate with the computer, something about a gateway, and I kept hitting Grant, but MPT could never communicate with the phone.

This is over Bluetooth, the only connection I have. Independently of MPT, the Windows Bluetooth thing (under Network Connections) sees the phone, accepted the PIN, confirmed the phone was connected, and saved the settings.

What now? (Thanks for the reply.)

Again... on the card WONT WORK.. they MUST BE in the phone's memory.. It doesn't matter that that folder is on the card... that same "standard" folder set has been put on microSD cards since the V710... and it could never be used for Ringtones. Only Pix and videos.

Other than the folders being slightly different for Verizon vs Alltel/USC/Cricket... This works -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V9M_MPT_Cable.htm
or -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V9M_MPT_BT.htm

Windows native bluetooth drivers do not support Bluetooth OBEX FTP, otherwise you could have use that to place the ring tones on the phone in the correct folder and bypass MPT.

If you go under My Bluetooth Places on your computer, does you phone have a listing there? If not, add it as a device to windows, and depending on how your carrier has set your BT settings, you should be able to upload mp3's to your phone with BT. it will be under OBEX file transfer. my carrier allows any mp3 to be used as a ring tone, but some restrict the length/filesize of the mp3. and some just plain don't let you use mp3's.

My Bluetooth Places is only available when using Widcomm or Broadcomm bluetooth drivers...

The mention of "Windows Bluetooth thing (under Network Connections)" by //Nathan in the 3rd post of this thread implies he is not using Widcomm...

Last time I looked, Bluesoliel doesn't put an icon there either..

That implies the plain/generic MS Bluetooth drivers which, like I said, do not support Bluetooth OBEX File Transfer profile (FTP)

actually what you can do is save a ringtone with all the songs and just move them over from the memory card to the phone memory its not that hard

the ringtone doesn't need to be on the phone, it can be on the microSD card, mine is. i think the only problem is that the ringtone is over something like 30kb...im not sure about the size limit but im pretty sure that is the problem. and what i did was use audacity to make my ringtone, transfer it to my phone's microSD card via USB, and voila it worked.

just when you go to select a ringtone, make sure u select music
