Moto: V9 vs Z9

Ok, which model would you select?

I like them both so far. The GPS is a great addition for the Z9 but it's not a feature I want to pay extra for because I would rarely use it.
Can the Z9 use Google maps like the iPhone...?

Is the V9 a better overall phone in terms of call clarity and reception?

Is the camera and lens exactly the same for both models?

I read the post where the pictures didn't look as nice under florescent lighting on the Z9 but then again no comparison photos were taken using a V9 in the same location. If the hardware is exactly the same for both models then it must be a software issue?

Thanks for your comments.

I don't have either phone and can't be of any direct help. However, PC Magazine has a recent Z9 review that includes some commentary comparing it with the V9. After buying a V551 based on their favorable review, I take every cell phone review that PC Mag does with a grain of salt. But, it's probably still worth a read.

Yes, I have Google maps installed on my Z9, and you can use it to get directions, and mark favorite spots on the map, along with map and satellite views.

Does Google maps take advantage of the GPS?

Yes, but not sure how accurate it is, I have yet to see it show the accuracy below 1700 meters.

^That's actually a no then. If you had an actual GPS fix, and not an approximate triangulation, it would just show a blinking dot with no error circle.

time to revive a dead topic! lol. Is the z9 worth the change from the v9? the only thing i like on the z9 is the screen size, 2.2 to 2.4. But is that a big enough change? I do like sliders but i heard the z9 is thicker then the v9.

You could wait on the V9x .

i know, but it doesnt really differ much from the v9. im just trying to decide if the .2 screen increase is a good justification for me to switch.

I have had both. The Z9 and the V9. Both are excellent. The Z9 has the GPS, but ya gotta pay like $25 (ATT Navigator, MediaNet) a month for it. However, I had 3 (all new) Z9's that gave me check sim error messages. ATT corp store replaced my sim card twice, reseated the card, nothing seemed to eliminate the problem. The other problem I had was the slider scratched the keypad on 2 of the Z9's.

I am back to the V9. One of the best phones I have used.
