Suddenly unable to send Yahoo mail

(Windows Mobile 6.1 on Cingular 8525 over AT&T)
Using the Windows Mobile Messaging application, and the Yahoo IMAP/SMTP connection I am suddenly only able to receive email and NOT send. I get an error every send/receive connection that says "The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."

The message is generic and wrong - obviously I have both a connection and correct account information since my incoming email is being downloaded from the IMAP, and of course since it worked 3 days ago.

I'm wondering if anyone else has suddenly had a loss of SMTP for Yahoo or any other POP/IMAP/SMTP services?? The Yahoo SMTP server works on my PC in Outlook Express, just not my phone, so I'm wondering if AT&T is blocking something. I've tried several different Yahoo SMTP's also - including smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com, smtp.mail.yahoo.com, plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. All of these respond to ping from my PC.

Ok - I even just used my Internet Connection Sharing on my phone to use my PC's Outlook Express to send email using plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com and that actually worked, just the Windows Messaging app that's not working anymore. So I guess that AT&T is not blocking SMTP, nor is Yahoo denying connections from my phone. It must be something with the Messaging app. In outlook express I had to specifically set the SSL port to 465, and I don't think I can do that in Messaging?

just tried mine, works great. My yahoo access is setup as IMAP, not POP.

Would you mind posting your settings?

I'm using "smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com" with Use Authentication checked but without SSL on Advanced Settings.

Are you using POP or IMAP?

I got and email from Yahoo about a month ago telling me to start using smtp.plus.mail.yahoo.com because they were making changes.
I'm using imap.mail.yahoo.com for incoming.

Give it a shot. You have to pay for Plus mail I believe in order to use smtp

I am having the same trouble. The plus address above does not work also. And yes i do pay for Yahoo plus.

This just started popping up for me in the last week or so. It's driving me nuts. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Sometimes I get the error you mentioned, other times WM6 will hit me up for my username and password.

My e-mail is through AT&T Yahoo DSL (swbell.net domain).

this happens to me regularly with my gmail. (smtp). It works flawlessly for weeks, then outbox fills up - can no longer send. my only sol'n is to delete mailbox and then re-add it as an account!

there's gotta be a reason. I was going to start a thread to see if this is common!

I am having this exact same issue. I recently upgraded my T-Mobile dash to WM6.1 and this started. Sometime I can send Yahoo mail sometimes I can't. i can always receive. Any thoughts?

Anyone get this to work yet? I have the same problem with my Yahoo Plus account on my Mogul with Sprint.

The only thing to do is delete the account and put it back in . I was having this problem yesterday and that was the only way to fix it.

I am having the same issue as of two days ago. I have an unlocked Samsung Blackjack using T-mobile $5.99 service. Everything was working great, I was able to send/receive emails via Yahoo until it stopped working two days ago. I've tried deleting the account and setting up again numerous times, but everytime I'd set it up, I get the same error: "..make sure you have network coverage.."

any thoughts? HELP please! I am desperate.
