How do you assign speed dial numbers to virtual keys on the Centro ???

I posted this same question in the Sprint PDA/Smartphone sub-forum, but I never received an answer. Hopefully, I will have better luck here.

I am looking for a way to assign speed dial numbers to the virtual number keys. For example, when I hold the "1" key down for a couple of seconds, it automatically dials my voicemail. I want to program keys 2-9 to do the exact same thing. I've figured out how to assign speed dial numbers to hard qwerty keys, but I can't get it to work with the virtual keys. Is what I am trying to do even possible?

I don't think that's possible. I think you can only use the qwerty keys for that. Kinda silly huh!!
Maybe some 3rd party app will allow you to change that, but I don't know of one.

From the phone area, Hit the lower right hand key. looks like equals sign with arrow, next hit favorite buttons, next to "type" hit speed dial, in the label area "lookup" you can find the person you want, in the quick key press which ever key you want and click save. That should help.

Maybe they have changed something between the 70p and the Centro. Can you assign a number(2-9) to a speed dial on yours. On the 700p it's letter only.

2-9 will show up as letters when you assign, but is same thing on keyboard.

This is exactly what I did. Unfortunately, it only appears to work for the hard keys, not for the virtual keys on the touch screen. Since you can dial voicemail by holding down the "1" key on the touchscreen, it's only logical to assume that the other virtual keys would work the same way. If they don't, they should.

As Indyfsufan said, I wanted my wife to be speed dial #2, so I set her up as "r" which shares the key with #2, so it is the same net effect as having her as #2.
