Please Help! Our Director just came to me and said here is my Palm TX and here is my LG VX5400 cell phone. Both of them are bluetooth enabled. I want them to talk. Does anyone have an idea where I need to start to get this going? She has service through Verizon.

And what is it you want them to talk about. You can read here to get a better idea of how to do what it is he needs it to do and how to set it up. I've used several Motorola phones as modems for a PDA, dialing a contact from a pda through the phone and sending text. But, I've never set up an LG. You may have to try different drivers on the TX to see if any will work.

Hello,

Without being glib, there are some things that you need to check out before you begin with a BT phone and a Palm Tx. Go to the LG website and find out what profiles the phone uses. The Palm supports BT very well, but if the phone does not support DUN (with Verizon, I don't think it will), also check out whether the profile to transfer contacts is supported by the phone. It has been so long that I have done this I cannot recall the profile name*. It could be that the Verizon phone only supports Headset and or Handsfree for the use of a BT headset only. Both Verizon and Sprint have cherry picked the profiles they want to use and severely crippled the profiles they have implemented. So, as with anything, "let the buyer beware!"

Otherwise, go into the settings, look for connectivity, look for Bluetooth and explore from there. I have seen that Bluetooth DUN supported on laptops, but not on handheld computers. No matter what you do, it will not work. This was the case with the Nokia 6165i from Sprint. Took 4 months for Sprint to finally admit that DUN between the phone and a Palm Tx was not supported and would not be supported. Object Push was the same story, not good, as you cannot send the contact list to the phone or vice-versa. I would get all the info you can on the phone and go from there. Best of luck to you.

Make sure that the phone supports Bluetooth DUN. Then, on the T|X, go to Prefs>Connection>New. Name it whatever. It's connecting to a Modem. Pair it with the phone, and make it a trusted device. Now, go to Prefs>Network (Treo only?) and make a new connection. Name it whatever. User name should be [phonenumber]@vzw3g.com. Password should be vzw. Phone number should be #777. Rinse and repeat.
